The constitution of india is the supreme law of india. it lays down the framework defining fundamental political principles, establishes the structure, procedures, powers and the duties of government institution and set out fundamental rights, directive principles and the duties of citizen. it is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world, containing 395 articles in 22 parts and 12 schedules. Besides the English version there is an official Hindi Translation.
The constitution was enacted by the constituent assembly on Nov 26 1949 and came into effect on 26 january1950. The date January 1950was chosen to commemorate the purna swaraj declaration of independence of 1930. with its adoption the union of india and it replaced the government of india act1935 as the country fundamental governing document. The constitution declares india to be sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic, assuring its citizen justice equality and liberty and endeavor to promote fraternity among them. The words socialist and secular were added to the preamble in 1976 by constitutional amendment Act India celebrates the adoption of the constitution on January 26 each year as republic day.

The preamble introduces the constitution by explaining the objective and the purpose with which the constitution has been drafted. In simple words  the preamble is the main key that guides us about the constitution. The preamble speaks of all objectives enshrined in the constitution follows.
