New year jubilation is over as we have reached the end of February. However, I made year's resolution which i hope to keep in future too. it is "No anger, no argument and no aggression. I like to include "no anxiety too" but i find pleasure in being anxious. I feel alive when i am anxious for something. But I need to control this becoming a depression.
My greatest enemy has always been my anger. I often fell into troubles and marred my reputation of an amiable person. I inherited it from my mother. She is very strong willed. I am also quite like her. I have always believed people with strong dignity, self respect have lot of indignation(anger).
when i read Gandhi " My experiment with truth " I realised any determined person need not lose his or her temper. I saw Gandhi's calm but firm personality. I don't have to go very far because my brother also has that nature. He speaks with serenity. Hence, my journey to conquer my future began.
First, I had to determine what makes me angry. There is injustice in world, careless attitude of people and their misbehavior. Now was the time to face these challenges. one of my senior colleague had told me, Problem fall into two areas. one is area of concern and another is area of control.
"Terrorist activities, corruption are areas of concern. we may not do anything about eliminating them but can surely voice our opinions, join intelligence at local level inform illegal and suspicious, behaviour, complain against corrupt officials, fight elections. Become prime minster of india and change the country. This is my area of control. For this, I should gain powers or i may utilize my present powers.
one should not keep pondering over one's area of concern but act effectively in his area of control.
one day, a man came and abused Gautam Buddha. Buddha did not pay any heed to that. Later, when that man went away, Buddha's disciple asked. "Why did you not say anything when that man insulted you? Buddha replied when someone offers you any gift if you don't accept it, it stays with him. when this man was abusing me, I smiled I refused to accept his abuses, eventually they were returned to him".
In this so called realistic world, there was many times when we get insulted . it is difficult not to react. you may get misjudged as weak but should we care about it? smile and voice can be your weapons. when someone shows anger, smile, speak subtly. Better is to ignore it.
