MAHABHARAT

About Mahabharata:

In the Hindu epic Mahābhārata, the Pandava (Sanskrit: pāṇḍavaḥ) are the five acknowledged sons of Pandu (Sanskrit: Pandu), by his two wives Kunti and Madri. Their names are Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva. Although, Karna is told by Lord Krishna that according to the laws and ethics he is the first son of Kunti making him the eldest Pandava. Hence, he is also a Pandava and one could say that there were six Pandavas instead of five. All five brothers were married to the same woman, Draupadi. Traditionally, the authorship of the Mahabharata is attributed to Rishi Vyasa . There have been many attempts to unravel its historical growth and compositional layers. The oldest preserved parts of the text are not thought to be appreciably older than around 400 BCE, though the origins of the story probably fall between the 8th and 9th centuries BCE.

About Birth of Pandavs & Kunti:

Kunti first son birth: SURYA PUTRA KARAN

Kunti father was Shoorsen (Śũrasena) of the Vrishni clan, and she was named Pritha (Pṛthā). She was thus the sister of Vasudeva, father of Krishna. She was given in adoption to the childless King Kuntibhoja, after which she became known as Kunti. After her arrival, King Kuntibhoja was blessed with children. He considered her his lucky charm and took care of her until her marriage. King Kuntibhoja of Kutwar (Location Kantibhoj) Vrish is elan, had no children of his own so he adopted a daughter of his brother as her own. The daughter was named Kunti. She was a girl of very pleasant manner and good qualities.

Temple in Kutwar where Kunti Prayer for Rishi Durgvasa:

Once Sage Durvasa, who was a great rishi, but feared by all, due to his terrible temper, paid a visit to King Kuntibhoja. Durvasa was very much pleased by the devotion of the girl Kunti. While parting, he gave her a boon. He taught her an incantation by reciting it she could invoke any god to visit her. As she was very young and full of curiosity, once while watching the sunrays falling on the river flowing near her palace, she recited the incantation, just out of curiosity, without realizing its significance.

About Birth of Surya Putra Karan

Lord Sun was standing before her bewildered eyes. When she was told the meaning of incantation she was very frightened and begged Lord Sun to excuse her childish impetuousness. Lord Sun said the incantation given by Durvasa was infallible. He took her and having pity on the young Kunti he said that after the birth of the Son her virgin state would be restored and she would be free from any sin. In due course Kunti move towards the dense forest (near Ashwa Nadi (river) The Aswanadi is mention in epic Sanskrit Mahabharata , Page Number: Dohal “ “) to give birth to the child, a son was born. The child was of extra-ordinary splendor and he was born with a 'Kavacha' and 'Kundala'. Kunti wrapped the child in a piece of silk and putting him in a wooden basket set him a float in the basket in the Ashwanadi (Pushpawati (Presently known as Pahuj) tributary of the holy river Ganga). She could never forget the shinning child with divine Kavacha and Kundala. It is said to be that Surya Putra Karan was flowed from Ashwanadi (Pushpawati (Presently known as Pahuj) tributary of the holy river Ganga) come along to Pachnada (Chambal (ancient times known as Charnawati holy river), Sindh , Kuwari, Yamuna , Pahuj( Aswanadi Pushpawati Ganga) further flowed into holy river Ganga.

Birth of Pandavs:

The first three of the Pandavas were the sons of Kunti, and the younger two were sons of Madri. Since Pandu had been cursed to die if ever he had intercourse with a woman, the actual fatherhood of the children is traditionally attributed to various gods, in virtue of a boon that Kunti had received from Durvaasa and had transferred to Madri. Thus, Yudhisthira was the son of Dharma, the god of righteousness; Bhima the son of Vayu, the wind-god; Arjuna the son of Indra, the sky-god; and Nakula and Sahadeva the sons of the Ashwini Gods. Karna was also born of Kunti Devi, and was the son of Surya, the Sun God. As Pandavs were happen by Blessing of various God they were DEVPUTRA. The Pandava brothers were collectively married to Draupadi. When Dhritarashtra heard that the five brothers were alive, he invited them back to the kingdom, however in their absence, Duryodhana had succeeded in being made the crown prince. Upon the return of the Pandavas, the issue of returning Yudhisthira's crown to him was raised. Dhritarashtra led the subsequent discussions into ambiguity and agreed to a partition of the kingdom "to do justice to both crown prince’s". He retained the developed Hastinapura for himself and Duryodhana, and gave the barren, arid and hostile lands of Khandavaprastha to the Pandavas. The Pandavas successfully developed their land and built a great and lavish city which was considered comparable to the heavens, and thus came to be known as Indraprastha (which is now Delhi).[1] Reeling under the loss of half the lands of his future kingdom, Duryodhana's jealousy and rage were further fueled by the Pandavas' success and prosperity. Eventually, Shakuni sired yet another ploy and got Duryodhana to invite the Pandavas over to his court for a game of dice (gambling). Pandavas for one last round of gambling, the terms of which were that the loser would be condemned to 12 years of exile into forests, and a 13th year to be spent incognito, and if the cover be blown during the 13th year, another cycle of 13 years would ensue. Obeying their uncle's orders, the Pandavas played the round, and again lost to Shakuni's cheating. However, this time, their patience had been nearly pushed to its edge. During the 12 years of exile in the forest, they prepared for war. Arjuna performed penance and won the entire gamut of celestial weapons (Divyasatras) as boons from the Gods.

Virah Parva : Agyatvas

Shri Pandokhar Sarkar

According to the general belief in the town, Rath's name came from the word "Virat". It is believed to be Virat Nagari where Pandavas remained in hiding for one year. Virat was the king of Virat Nagari on whose name the city was named. All the Pandavas along with Draupadi lived in Virat Nagri for one year in hiding (Agyatvas). Yudhishthir was a courtier who used to play Chaupar (the game of dice)with the king. Bheem was a cook. Arjun lived as Brihannala, a dance teacher of Uttara, daughter of king Virat, who was later married to Abhimanyu. Draupadi was a maid to the queen. The brother of the queen, Keechak, tried to lure Draupadi and was killed by Bheema near a pond. "Dhupakali pond" in the city is believed to be the pond where Bheema killed Keechak. Virat, later became Rath.

Pandavs in Pandokhar Dham:

To Hide their celestial weapons “Divyasatras” Arjuna moved towards the dense forest downword direction by the Order of Lord KRISHNA. It is well known that during AGYATWAS (hidden times) was very severe and in this intervene God Lord Lord Krishna afforded protection to them. In this time Pandavs lived at many places and did devotion and worship. There are many historically indent places in which Pandokhar is quite important. It is also known that whatever Pandavs lived they built temples for their daily worshiping. At this village during their period of AGYATWAS they establish Surya Shivbala (Shivling) and Manshapurna Hanumanji (presently known as Shri Pandokhar Sarkar) temples. Their original temple is not there since timely temple renovation has been done. The chief of Vaishya family who were reputed had got renovation done about 450 years ago. But the revenants’ of this temple are still at Pandokhar. The statue of Hanumanji put up by the Pandavs is still in the temple. Several people are fulfilling their wishes in praying before it.
